Betsy Foster *name changed for privacy request*: The evening I spent with Angelina Jolie
Name on forum: ******
I wore a black fitted suit, very slimming and classy. My jewelry entailed a rhinestone choker, long dangly rhinestone earrings, and a rhinestone bracelet. I brought a purse with Audrey Hepburn from Roman Holiday on it. I wore my hair down and curled it just a little. My nerves were so high a few hours before the premiere that my parents had to give me 2 Ativan pills to calm my nerves. It didn’t do much…or maybe it did? I don’t know for certain lol. Sarah (she wore a blue sari and looked like an Indian princess) and her mother were getting ready in the hotel room across the way while my mother and I were doing the same in our room. I was feeling so many emotions; nervousness, disbelief, anxiety, happiness, uneasiness, cheerfulness, and doubt etc. When the time finally came all 4 of us quickly jumped into a cab and drove off to the Ziegfeld Theater. The ride seemed to take hours, even though in reality it was only a few minutes. The driver took us a back way and was continuing driving when suddenly I saw all sorts of flashing lights and I yelled “Stop the car!” So naturally, the cab driver stopped. I then jumped out of the yellow cab and darted towards the flashing lights and quickly recognized the red carpet. My eyes began to search flashing back and forth for Angelina. Then BAM! I saw her. She was interviewing for the press. She looked so drop dead GORGEOUS. More beautiful than any human being I have EVER laid eyes on. I began to shake with excitement, shock, and pure happiness. I kept on thinking…”Oh my god. There is Angelina Jolie, in the flesh; Just a few meager feet away from me.” I immediately took out my camera and began taking pictures. Also there were fellow obsessed fans that helped me get a few great pics. They were very cool. They told me that they had met her at her hotel before she left for the premiere. I am glad they had a chance to meet her, because they were unable to attend the premiere. I noticed that there were so many rich bastards who didn’t even care about Angelina attending. They all are so unworthy of meeting such a deity in my opinion. I also saw Barbra Walters, Jennifer Lopez’s sister, and Clive Owens on the red carpet. After taking 2 rolls of film my mom found Sarah and I with the tickets and led us over to an area wear we needed to get our hands stamped in order to gain admittance to the after party. Then we made our way over to the line to enter the theater. I soon noticed that security were confiscating cameras, but when my time came I luckily got a nice guy who whispered in my ear that I could keep my camera but just not take it out. Thank the fucking lord for that lol. Next I entered the theater. I looked around for Angie but promptly realized she was still outside interviewing and signing for fans etc. I tried waiting for her downstairs but security made me continue on up the stairs. The theater was very beautiful. The lobby upstairs was filled with refreshments (all for free). However, I didn’t eat anything because I was besieged with butterflies in my stomach. When I entered the room where the movie was to be played a woman handed me this brochure kind of thing with the beyond borders advertisement on it (the one where Angelina’s eyes look simply amazing). I asked the lady if I could have two, and also two for Sarah, and she did. We had a bit of trouble finding our seats. Some rich old mean people were in our seats and wouldn’t move. My mom got a woman to help us and explain to the people that they had balcony seats and that we had the better seats. So then Sarah and I took our seats, which were 4th row and wonderful. Our moms then found there proper seating which wasn’t too far away from where we were sitting. When I looked inside the pamphlet thing I noticed that my parents’ names were listed as Individual Benefactors. How cool is that? My last name and family name listed in Angelina Jolie’s official world premiere program. I then began to look around for Angie. No sight of her. The lights began to dim after about 5 minutes. Kofi Annan (UN Secretary-General) walked down the isle and took the podium. He recited a quick speech about Angelina and I clapped and cheered for her. When he finished he walked by me and brushed against my arm as he shook hands with a man seated behind me. That was kind of cool. The lights dimmed once again and the movie started. It was a superb movie. It really gave me a bigger prospective of how admirable Angelina’s work for UNHCR really is. I hope she is nominated for best actress at this years Oscars, as she really deserves it. When the credits rolled up I whistled and clapped for Angelina’s name. Once the lights were turned on again I found my mom and then quickly walked out to the lobby and there was Angelina standing looking stunning talking to people. I hastily made my way up to her with my picture, permanent marker, and Letter in hand. I waited just a few moments taking her in and then she turned to me. She looked directly into my eyes. When she did this I felt she had taken captive every fiber of my being. It was amazing. I introduced my self, shook her hand, and told her what I big fan I was etc. and she thanked me and signed my picture. And when I handed her my letter she touched me slightly when she took it. Ahhh! It was like a dream. She was then bombarded by other people so I made my way down the stairs. After a few minutes, as we decided to make our way down stairs, Sarah pointed out she (angie) was walking alone down the stairs and told me to have her sign my other pic…I figured what the hell? And approached her again. I told her sorry to bother her and if she could sign just this pic quick, she looked at me and told me it was no trouble at all. Signed and smiled at me.I then told her how much I enjoyed the movie and she said oh thats wonderful, thank you very much. I really enjoyed filming it. I think she could tell I was so nervous because she was really really nice and smiley. Once I was down the stairs I started to shake and like laugh and smile and cry all at the same time. I never have experienced anything like that before. It was like bliss. I then walked out of the theater and saw Angie signing for fans outside and well I got up right behind her and Sarah took a pic. So that is like my pic with Angie lol. It’s better than nothing. Also my mom handed me my third pic and she signed it very quickly as she was signing autographs like a mad woman for all the fans lol. We then were told to enter a line to go on a bus that would take us to the after party and well I was doing my crying happy shaking thing until we got onto a bus. Everyone was like smiling at me. Or well looking at me haha. Who knows what they were thinking…I really don’t care. Because it was amazing. Seeing her. Feeling that way. Ugh….just fucking incredible. I got my self together a bit on the bus ride over. It wasn’t a very long ride. When we finally stopped I got off as quickly as I could. We finally made it to the place I believe it was called the Rainbow room or Cipriani's (forget which). The place was very large and so elegant and fancy. It was just one big room. No V.I.P room! Yay for that! I had to walk through the metal detectors again and deal with security but thankfully they didn’t search my bag this time. However, I sadly was unable to take any pics at the after party because they wouldn’t let anyone. And I wasn’t about to get my camera taken away with the film with Angie on it. The first thing I noticed as I walked in, aside form how beautiful the place was, was a table on the left filled with Angelina Jolie’s Journals and the Beyond Borders books. I walked right over and asked someone if they were for free and they told me yes, that everything was free. I was in such disbelief. I grabbed a copy of both and made sure Sarah and my mom also got copies for me lol. Sarah and I then immediately tried to find Angie and it wasn’t hard at all. I walked up to her with my new Angelina Journal Book in my hand, but she was unable to talk to fans for about 2 minutes as she had to speak with Kofi Annan. While I was waiting I talked to these 2 other fans; one who has met her 5 times and one who came all the way from Norway. They were really annoying to me. I don’t know why. But they were. The one large older lady who met her 5 times was like shoving the pics she had taken with Angie in my face I was like WOW! I don’t care, I want my chance to meet her so back off. I didn’t say that. I was just like wow you are so lucky. My time finally came when I was able to speak with Angelina again, I asked her to sign her book and she asked me my name, I told her Bethany and she repeated it. Ahhh! She said my name. I then told her I had come all the way from Chicago and she then told me that her mother was staying there now, and then I told her that I felt she was such a great role model for young women and such an inspiration. She told me thank you. And just before she was going to turn to the next person I told her how I think Maddox is the cutest 2 year old I had ever seen. She then flashed me that great big smile she gets when she talks about Maddox and said Thanks so much. I then walked away and left her alone as I didn’t want to be a pest to her and many people wanted to speak with her. The rest of the night I just sat and watched her from afar. Also while I was walking around the room with Sarah I noticed Eve Mavrakis (Ewan McGregor’s wife) and Johnny Lee Miller. I didn’t talk to Johnny; I kind of wanted his autograph because after all he was Angelina’s husband, still one of her closest friends, very hot, and a good actor in both trainspotting and hackers. But I just didn’t. The rest of the evening I just spent enjoying being in the same room as Angelina (breathing the same air lol) with my mom and my friend. Later in the evening I got Clive Owen’s autograph. That’s kind of cool. We got back to the hotel around 1 o’clock in the morning.
That was my experience at the Beyond Borders World Premiere in New York City. It was so awesome. Meeting Angelina is definitely something I will never forget. She is one of the most beautiful human beings (inside and out) to ever walk the earth. It was such a privilege to meet such a remarkable person. The way she uses her celebrity status to help poverty stricken countries is extremely admirable. She is the next Audrey Hepburn.
About 2 weeks later I recieved a letter from her sent from England. It was on black paper with gold ink and came in a light pink envelope. I have framed 3 of my autgraphs and they are hanging in my bedroom. I have the signed book in my safe so I will never loose it.
